鐘ト銃声 (kane to juusei) / 【小林アキヒトの一生:破】([Kobayashi Akihito no isshou: Ha]) lyrics translation

Long time no see! Kaneto have been both beloved and embroiled in controversy in the young international vkei fan sphere despite still being relatively unknown to Japanese vkei fans. I love vkei drama and controversy if the other posts on this blog didn’t make that clear, so here I am.

This post contains a translation of all songs from the kane to juusei (or kaneto-juusei, kaneto jusei, what have you) digital EP, 【小林アキヒトの一生:破】([Kobayashi Akihito no isshou: Ha]) / [The Life of Akihito Kobayashi: Act II].

I do recommend reading the translation of Act I first.

Like before, this EP covers the life of Akihito Kobayashi, a fictional rapist & murderer. Based on the titling schema, we can expect a third and final act at some point if the band continues (who knows how kind the “post”-pandemic era will be to minor bands). The lyrics are very NSFW and cover topics of murder, sexual abuse, and possibly child sexual abuse – read at your own discretion. Just to reiterate: MASSIVE CONTENT WARNING FOR EROGURO CONTENT SUCH AS MURDER AND SEXUAL CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND THE DISABLED; AS WELL AS REFERENCES TO REAL LIFE CASES INCLUDING THESE ELEMENTS.

さつき (Satsuki)

music & lyrics / Yuriko

with a face full of ennui and arrogance
give me a shy smile
petite Asian beauty from the Far East
lolicons are welcome, you like men, don’t you?
even if she’s a flower atop a tall mountain, a weed is a weed
i want to pluck and eat it, filthy lump of flesh
staring from afar, public sex
taste it all the way inside! cerebral sex!

satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window
satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window
satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window

commuter train, peeking through the car window, at you from the window

turning down the tree-lined street ahead,
jumping over the railroad crossing that doesn’t open,
i’ll peek along the private rail line, my love
room 302, that’s your room

you can’t see me, beautiful girl
it’s sad but that’s life
let’s get on Tinder, my match is below average
let’s do it, recruiting hook-ups
even if she’s a rotten flower, a weed is a weed, lmao 1
thinking of you, i jack off 2
at the curtain call, public sex
let’s show them! cerebral sex!

satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window
satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window
satsuki? satsuki? satsuki? my car window

commuter train, peeking through the car window, at you from the window

that station, if you’ve left that nostalgic town
can we meet again on the road lined by sakura?
i’ll peek along the private rail line, my love
pink curtains, that’s your room

turning down the tree-lined street ahead,
jumping over the railroad crossing that doesn’t open,
i’ll peek along the private rail line, my love
room 302, that’s your room

notes: Satsuki is a girl’s name, and also an old way of referring to the month of May (which may just be a coincidence, but the month of April is referenced in the title of 性傷年4月の憂鬱 (Seishounen Shigatsu no Yuuutsu) / April Melancholy of a Sexually Damaged Youth from the previous EP, so it might be a thematic choice too). It’s pretty clear what our nasty protagonist is doing – he’s fantasizing about and stalking a young girl on and around public transport and using Tinder to sate his sexual urges towards her with women he considers inferior in beauty.

There are unwritten lyrics in this song, notably a repeating one after the commuter train~ line. This includes an unwritten spoken part in the lyrics where the protag recounts meeting the girl in town and learning her name, but Chill has his slurred delivery as usual so I can’t catch all of it as a non-native speaker. Sorry!

1 This line is written 腐った花でも 草は草 くさ (kusatta hana demo kusa wa kusa kusa), but the last “kusa” just seems to be a laugh. The word for “weed” or “grass” has become shorthand for “lol” or “lmao” in Japanese due to a complicated evolution of slang (笑う “warau” means laugh, this got contracted to just “w” online, a lot of laughter might be expressed as “wwwwww” which people joked looks like grass, so people just started using 草/grass instead to mean lol).

2 The line is written オ◯ニー4545 (onani shikoshiko). Shikoshiko is onomatopoeia for masturbation but I’m not writing out the word “fap” in a translation in the year 2022 sorry.

贖罪 (Shokuzai) / Atonement

music & lyrics / Yuriko

please recite “Sin Obsession Station, Chapter 1”.
right there right there right there right there
please give me some morphine for my pain

I ejaculated into the motherhood
of the “Mary” God gave me, sin and sin and sin
writhing in agony, this is atonement play
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

I ejaculated in my treasure,
my memorable days, despicable true nature
flounder and suffer, this is atonement r*pe
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

please recite “Sin Obsession Station, Chapter 2”.
right there right there right there right there
please give me some morphine for my pain

the “weapon” God gave me
destroys reason, mine mine mine
writhing in agony, this is atonement play
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

to my beloved angel of the dawn
shall i ejaculate? with a nihilistic smile
flounder and suffer, this is atonement r*pe
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

to me, who deserves to die ten thousand deaths of atonement
crime and punishment, executed on the cross of dreams
in the cradle, destroy my frontal lobe
call me, my angel until daybreak

after you lick my wounds, destroy me, okay?
in the season of dyed colors
flowers of atonement bloom wildly

you must be a bit tired, you closed your eyes
in the vivid reverberations
only the flowers of atonement that bloom wildly

are the last petals left for me

please recite “Sin Obsession Station, Chapter 3”.
right there right there right there right there
please give me some morphine for my pain

let me breed you with the “pain”
God gave me, seed and seed and seed
writhing in agony, this is atonement play
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

pain and anguish, the corruption i felt
i’ll repent for my sexual impulses
flounder and suffer, this is atonement r*pe
climactic break of sexually damaged youth

to me, who deserves to die ten thousand deaths of atonement
crime and punishment, executed on the cross of dreams
in the cradle, destroy my frontal lobe
call me, my angel until daybreak

after you lick my wounds, destroy me, okay?
in the season of dyed colors
flowers of atonement bloom wildly

you must be a bit tired, you closed your eyes
in the vivid reverberations
only the flowers of atonement that bloom wildly

are the last petals left for me

you must be a bit tired

notes: I don’t have too much to say about this one – it’s pretty classic. If you like kote-kei or Dir en grey at their nastiest you know this kind of song well. As usual there are a ton of unwritten lines, including a whole-ass monologue about Akihito that sounds pretty lore-relevant but I am not talented enough/patient enough to sit down and try to make it out right now. If I ever take the time to try and decipher unwritten lyrics, I’ll update this post!

都内の駅員態度悪いぞ (Tonai no ekiin taido warui zo) / Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes

music & lyrics / Yuriko

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes, don’t you think?
JR! JR! JR! 1

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
everyone, please say it with me:
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
do you happen to know anything about this?
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
everyone, please say it with me:
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
rude, sighing, unresponsive XX!

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
the gate attendant at ‘Bukuro East Exit2
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
Kawamura with the nose hair at Shinjuku West Exit
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
the Midori no Madoguchi attendant with the hickey
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
rude sighing hickey-covered fuckers

for example, what’s the meaning of this?
a disgruntled-looking station attendant
snatched up my admission fee in a single second
get fired, get fired
lose your job and become homeless3!

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
please give me 10 billion as an apology!
extend the line to my house!
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
lower their net income, cut their wages
and please give me a train!

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes, don’t you think?
JR! JR! JR! 1

listless rude four eyes
sighing old man with nose hair
the female attendant with the hickey
demote them, demote them
you guys are demoted to cleaning toilets!

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
stop the train until I get on!
please let me ride the women’s car!
Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes
let me ride for free! I’ll be the only one who can use his face card
and please give me my own station!

Tokyo station attendants have bad attitudes, don’t you think?
JR! JR! JR!

notes: I’d already translated this so I just copied it over from the standalone post. Still one of their funniest songs, I guess our train-loving protag is having a paranoid meltdown.

1 JR as in Japan Rail. Censored in the lyrics

2 The names of the people and stations are censored in the lyrics, so I tried to catch these by ear.

3 “Homeless” is also censored in the lyrics.

東京解放区 (Tokyo Kaihou-ku) / Liberated Zone, Tokyo

music & lyrics / Yuriko

i went mad from the sound of the exquisite poem

i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill

To the family of the victim:
I would first like to express my sympathies for this tragedy.
I hope to live a positive life going forward on behalf of the deceased.
If I ever have a child of my own, I would like to name it after the victim.
Coincidence is a frightful thing, isn’t it? Please forgive my actions.

i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill

feeling arousal, my privates went to “special ed”
you disappear, the sexual sadism i felt for you
the day I lost my name, the day I ceased to be me
Boy A offers an exquisite poem to the victim’s family

kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill

Tokyo liberation, search for me
Tokyo liberation, search for me
Tokyo liberation, find me

karma, a miserable corpse
karma, a miserable corpse
will your loneliness end?
unadulterated colors faded away, faded away

“Tokyo liberation, murder for pleasure, police officers, the game begins”

kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill
kill kill kill kill

Tokyo liberation, search for me
Tokyo liberation, search for me
Tokyo liberation, save me

karma, a miserable corpse
karma, a miserable corpse
will your pain end?
unadulterated colors looked so frail, looked so frail

karma, a miserable corpse

agonizing over a tomorrow on the verge of fizzling out
this occluded room weighs on me painfully
it’s a filthy life steeped in distortion
the liberated zone of Tokyo from my grey box

i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill

i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill
i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill i want to kill

notes: Well, it seems our protagonist was jailed as a youth for raping and murdering a girl. This song very effectively describes an unrepentant and abominable murderer wallowing in self-pity and rage in prison.
This song makes many references to details of the Kobe child murders. Some references made are:
-Juvenile offenders are often given names like “Boy A” or “Girl A” for press coverage as it’s not legal to publish their names in Japan – this is a very well-known “Boy A” case.
-This particular juvenile murderer was known for sending taunting messages to the police, much like this song. Some of the verbiage is very similar (compare警察諸君ゲームを始めます with さあゲームの始まりです 愚鈍な警察諸君 )
-The offender targeted special ed students.
-The offender later published a very controversial book called 絶歌 about the crimes. This title could be translated as “Exquisite Poem”. This song uses different kanji (絶花), but the pronunciation is identical and it is a very clear reference to this publication.
Lastly, this may be more on the coincidental side, but one of the victims was named Ayaka, which is a name that is quite relevant to the Akihito saga.

留守番電話 (rusuban denwa) / Voicemail

music & lyrics / Yuriko

oh, that’s my voice, so
oh, that’s my voice
“did you get my voicemail?”

oh, that’s my voice, so
oh, that’s my voice
oh, that’s my voice, so
oh, that’s my voice

oh, that’s my voice, so
oh, that’s my voice
oh, that’s my voice, so
oh, that’s my voice

if there is a God
maybe you and I can meet again

isn’t it a cherry-pink voice?
it’s a voicemail left with love

-duty call duty is AHAHA-
it’s a voicemail left with love
it’s a voicemail left with love

-duty call duty is AHAHA-
it’s a voicemail left with love
it’s a voicemail left with love

Akihito: “Oh, hello… I-I-It’s me, d-d-d, do you recognize me?”

Ayaka: “Hello, who’s this?”

Akihito: “Huh, uh, huh, um, erm, ummm!! Uh, uh!”

Ayaka: “Creepy. [click]”

Akihito: “Hah! Haaaun? Hellooooo?!”

isn’t it a cherry-pink voice?
it’s a voicemail left with love

-duty call duty is AHAHA-
it’s a voicemail left with love
it’s a voicemail left with love

-duty call duty is AHAHA-
it’s a voicemail left with love
it’s a voicemail left with love

notes: Just Akihito harassing his childhood love interest turned porn star, Ayaka, over the phone. The opening dialogue has Akihito panicking about what kind of message to leave when he reaches her voicemail. Also the chorus is very obviously an homage to hide’s beauty & stupid, melodically!
