history

lynch. was formed on December 27th of 2004 by members Hazuki, Reo, and Asanao.

After becoming interested in the music Hazuki was composing in his previous band Berry, Reo left (and consequently disbanded) notable Nagoya band GULLET and invited Hazuki to form a band with him. As Hazuki had recently made an amicable departure from then-newcomer band DEATHGAZE, lynch. was formed as a project where Hazuki would have control over compositions.

lynch. first operated as a session band entitled デスゲーム。(deathgame.), entitled after one of Berry’s songs, where they played Berry covers and other songs. Bassist Yukino (ex. GULLET, now in HOLLOWGRAM, DIMMDIVISION.) participated in the session band in addition to the trio of Hazuki, Reo, and Asanao. This would be the same lineup used for lynch.’s official debut, with Yukino acting as support bassist for live shows. Eventually, Yukino would leave his support position and be replaced by Hikaru (ex. Vizell).

In 2006, Yusuke joined lynch. as their second guitarist. Originally asked to audition as a bassist, the members found his guitar work too good to pass up and brought him on to create a unique four-piece band composition consisting of a vocalist, two guitarists, and a drummer. Shortly after, Hikaru left as support bassist and was replaced by Junji (ex. Uma), who became a rather beloved character to lynch. fans at the time despite never being an official member.

While the band had been almost entirely independently managed until this point, in summer 2010 lynch. announced their decision to sign a major label contract. Hazuki had played bass on recordings with Junji providing support during live shows, but the band felt they needed a more permanent bassist. Junji stepped down as their support bassist and was replaced by Akinori, a relative unknown who had met Hazuki through the Name of Nagoya event and their shared hobby of fishing. Hazuki quickly recognized his talent and invited him to play support for the band’s final indies tour, culminating in Akinori’s official entry into the band in December of that same year.

In November of 2016, bassist Akinori was arrested for possession of marijuana and immediately departed the band. lynch. went on a four month hiatus before returning in April 2017 once again as a four-piece band. Rumors that Akinori would return were nearly constant during this time, and they proved to be true as he made an appearance for the first time at the band’s New Year’s Eve show, along with announcement that he would be an official member again as of March 2018.
