PHOENIX

music & lyrics / Hazuki

the raven flying beautifully
burns, flooded in the evening sun

ever since then i’ve been walking steady
wearing the part of you that resides in my heart

i sing to the flames that burn the skies to ashes
to hold my prayers up high
even if i risk my life on the ambiguous, i can’t change it
i’ll live here and i’ll die here

I won’t forget you

countless hesitations but my heart lives on as it does
even if i scream and ask why you’re gone, i’ll never know
i wear the loneliness and resolution

i sing to the flames that burn the skies to ashes
to make sure of the answer
even if i risk my life on the ambiguous, i can’t change it
i’ll live in my dreams and become a dream

i’ll live here and i’ll die here

the scene i see from here is truly hell
if i spread my wings

i sing to the flames that burn the skies to ashes
to hold my prayers up high
even if i risk my life on the ambiguous, i can’t change it
i’ll live here and i’ll die here

i’ll live here and i’ll die here

I won’t forget you

This song was written about K of Pay money to my Pain, a close friend of Hazuki’s who passed away in December of 2012. “BE STRONG“, the song written immediately after his death, could be considered the sister song to PHOENIX. However, this one is more about pursuing dreams even after loss (or maybe because of loss).

Hazuki tweeted on April 5th, 2014 about this song: “By singing this song, I realized the power of lyrics and song. Those who knew him are living with him in their hearts. So how will you live? I’ll live here, and I’ll die here.”
